9 injured in horrific chain-reaction crash

A horrific chain-reaction crash in Gainesville on Monday morning injured nine people. One good Samaritan checked on victims of the accident by going car to car to see if everyone was alright once all the vehicles came to a stop. The accident occurred at the intersection of Queen City Parkway and West Ridge Road. According to police, the fog on Monday morning played a major role in the crash.

Officers investigating the crash told multiple news outlets that the accident was triggered by a tanker truck. The good Samaritan at the scene who went car to car said he tried to help as many victims as possible safely exit their vehicles.

The investigation by police found that a line of cars was stopped at the traffic light on West Ridge Road close to 8 a.m. The accident occurred when a tanker truck slammed into the final car in the line of stopped cars, causing the chain-reaction incident.

As many as nine people were injured in the crash, with one victim being treated for serious injuries. Multiple vehicles were damaged and some of them were labeled as totaled by investigators. There were at least 10 vehicles damaged in the crash. Police have not yet said if charges will be filed in this case.
