Reality star begins Georgia divorce during TV episode

There are people across the country and in state of Georgia who enjoy watching reality shows like "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." One of the factors that drives this enjoyment is often the personal look viewers get inside the lives of the individuals performing in the show. Recently, one woman who stars in the serial began one of the most personal processes possible when she visited an attorney on air to discuss terminating her marriage.

The woman and her husband have been living apart for several months, and she has apparently decided to begin the process of ending the marriage legally. She apparently invited the cameras into her lawyer's office while she discussed what she wanted out of the divorce, and learned some basics about the process, such as Georgia law regarding alimony.

According to the woman, she wants the couple's house, which she says is already in her name. She and her husband also reportedly had a prenuptial agreement, though she may have been having difficulty locating it. She also reportedly said that there was no one thing that broke up her marriage, but that it was just a culmination of various problems.

This type of story is played out over and over again across Georgia each day, as couples realize that their marriages simply are not working for them anymore. In many cases there isn't one precipitating event, but a slow growing apart that creates an atmosphere where the parties are no longer happy. While most people's divorces will not play out over the airwaves for millions of viewers, everyone has a right to protect his or her interests under the law in a divorce proceeding.
